346. John B. Gerow was born on 6 Feb 1827 in New York. He was buried in Nov 1913 in Plattekill Friends Cemetery, Plattekill, Ulster County, NY. He died on 19 Nov 1913 in Plattekill, Ulster County, NY. He was special guardian for Jonathan Thorne's grandchildrens Peter and Hannah Brown. John B. Gerow was Supervisor of Town of Plattekill 1873, Postmaster for 15 years, farmer, politician.

Zadoc Thorne, brother of Jonathan Thorne, had a daughter named Catherine, whose daughter was the wife of John B Gerow. So John was the Grandnephew-in-Law of Jonathan Thorne. The Brown children (grandchildren of Jonathan Thorne) were second cousins of Marilla Powell. Further, Jonathan Thorne's youngest sister, Jane Thorne, was the mother of John B Gerow, so he was, at the same time, his nephew. John B Gerow's wife was his first cousin, once removed.

Apparently John B. Gerow and his wife Merilla (Marilla) were not practicing Friends or were not in good standing. They are both buried Plattekill Friends Cemetery. There is a Marilla Gerow in the Marlboro records born 28 Nov 1886 rel. by letter no date. She is probably a granddaughter or possibly a niece.

He was married to Marilla Powell (daughter of Elias Powell and Catherine Thorn) on 20 Oct 1858. Marilla Powell was born on 23 Apr 1840. She died on 4 Jan 1913 in Plattekill, Ulster County, NY. She was buried in Plattekill Friends Cemetery, Plattekill, Ulster County, NY. John B. Gerow and Marilla Powell had the following children:
