THIRD GENERATION

11. Jacob Coutant was born on 19 May 1744 in New Rochelle, Westchester Co, NY. He died on 16 Sep 1819 in Rosendale Plains, NY. He was undoubtedly descended from the first person of this name to come to the Colony of NY. He was John or Jean Coutant, born abt 1658 in France and died by 1717 in New Rochelle. He removed to NY in 1692 and to New Rochelle in 1703. He married Susannah Gouin born 1660 in France and died after 20 May 1719. They had two sons, Isaac born 1697, and Peter born 1698.

Phebe Legget (daughter of James Legget and Elizabeth) was born on 23 Dec 1748 in Westchester County, NY. Jacob Coutant and Phebe Legget had the following children:
